The Building

The 'Institute' - Hull

As Owner Hotels is a company based in Hull, whose sister company Weth Estates has converted many old listed buildings in Hull city centre in to luxury flats, we decided to open our first hotel in Hull city centre.

After many months searching for the right building in the right location, we purchased The Institute on Albion Street, next to the central library and close to the local shops, bars, restaurants and the new bus and train station.

The Institute, (Originally known as Albion House), designed by master architect Henry Lockwood, was built in 1846 for Hull’s most famous Doctor J. Alderson, Queen Victoria's personal physician, whose sculpture is located in Hull City Hall.

The Institute is regarded as one of Hull’s finest buildings from the 19th century and is still in excellent condition.

The 'Jorvik' Hotel - York

The Jorvik Hotel faces the 11th century church of St. Olaf and has an attractive walled garden at the rear; which was originally the Monks Garth. Many of the stones in the rockery came from the Abbey and were probably pilfered by the Marygate citizens during the 16th century when Henry VIII dissolved the monasteries

The hotel overlooks the gateway to the Museum Gardens and the remains of St. Mary's Abbey. Less than five minutes walk through the gardens brings you to the centre of historic York with the Minster, several museums, Art Galleries, the Theatre Royal as well as all the shops, bars, restaurants and cafes of a truly cosmopolitan city

The hotel dates from 1750's and has 22 ensuite bedrooms, a comfortable and welcoming reception area, sumptuous residents lounge, and restaurant that can accommodate 50 diners in comfort

It will be refurbished to AA 4 star standards with the latest facilities and styling expected from what will be one of York's finest small hotels

The attractive walled garden, patio and small private car park complete the property; there is a NCP car park less than 100 yards away

A gentle oasis in the heart of York

The "PODS" occupy a building of historic interest in "The Maltings" in Hull's city centre, just two minutes from the Theatre, the newly proposed Casino and the Owner Hotels 4* Hotel "The Insitute" (see above).

This "modern day twist" on quality hotel accomodation combined with competitive pricing is sure to prove popular in a city where recently an independent survey conducted by Hull City Council confirmed that corporate bookings are on the rise and tourism has now been recognised as the City's fastest growing industry worth an estimated £250m per year and climbing.
